About The Program

This innovative program is designed for people entering their career in tech. You’ll be employed as a software engineer on projects to develop digital banking solutions. Ironhack will provide free intensive training to give new employees the hands-on experience and technical knowledge to excel your career at this major bank. After paid training, you'll be incorporated as a software engineer associate. 

 

Who We’re Looking For?

  • People residing in Puerto Rico and South Florida
  • College degree in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Mathematics) or previous experience coding
  • High level of English and Spanish
  • Employment start date of early June

  • 12 weeks of free hands-on training covering topics such as Java, SQL, JPA, Spring Boot, Microservices, TypeScript, and Angular (Valued at $13,000)

Content and structure of the program

Learn Front-end design and Back-end architecture. Intensive training in Java, SQL, HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript.
 
Prework
After signing your offer letter,  you will have access to 60 hours of online learning material to prepare for Day 1. 
Module 1
Associates will learn about the fundamentals of Java programming, basic tools (IntelliJ IDEA, Maven and git) and will expand their knowledge through test-driven development using JUnit. This unit also introduces you to SQL theory and databases of data.
Module 2
Associates will learn about the principles of REST, HTTP, API creations and the role of Spring Boot in creating RESTful services. This unit will introduce associates to microservices architecture using Netflix OSS and Spring Cloud Netflix. Learn about service logs, load balancing, circuit breakers, latency and drop tolerance, board services, and powers.
Module 3
This unit is key to developing an understanding of the full life cycle of a web application. Associates will be exposed to TypeScript, Angular, HTML and CSS. Develop robust applications, test and validate components and integrate with external APIs
Business Project
In this unit, associates will solve a real business challenge to test their ability to synthesize the skills learned throughout the cohort. A case study will be built to solve a real problem, using what was learned in previous modules while writing scalable and maintainable code. Associates must analyze, design, develop and, present their final projects.
